Linda Francis worked as a book designer during the 1970s and then as a partner in an accountancy practice for the next 25 years. She began painting botanical subjects in 1995 and she was later awarded two RHS gold medals and one silver-gilt medal. She received the Joyce Cuming Presentation Award from the Society of Botanical Artists. Her paintings are in collections at the Lindley Library, the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation and the Shirley Sherwood Collection. Hampered by severe vision problems since 2009 she currently (and optimistically) awaits further eye surgery.
