Julia Trickey

UK

Born 1964

Julia has been painting botanical watercolours since 1998 when she joined an adult education class in South London. She now tutors classes in Bath, UK and beyond (recently as far afield as Boston, New York and Moscow) as well as exhibiting regularly. Julia has exhibited internationally, has work in collections worldwide and has received numerous awards for her paintings including four RHS gold medals. She has written books and produced other resources for students of botanical art. Julia has a particular fascination for botanical specimens that are less than perfect such as autumnal leaves, fading flowers and seedheads - often depicting them larger than life. In 2014 Julia's illustrations appeared on sixteen Royal Mail Post & Go British Flora stamps. Her work has also been selected for inclusion in the Transylvania Florilegium, presently being created under the umbrella of the Prince of Wales's Foundation Romania, to record in a permanent way the flora of Transylvania.
