Sue Williams

Pakistan

Born 1942

I have always been fascinated by plants, their medicinal value as well as their beauty and complexity of colour, pattern and texture. In Zimbabwe my first solo exhibition of indigenous flora raised funds for the National Botanical Gardens in 1998. In 2000 I was commissioned to design the definitive botanical stamp issue for the Pitcairn Islands.

Since returning to settle in the UK I exhibit regularly in London and in Europe, and contribute to the archives of the Chelsea Physic Garden. My series of begonia paintings was awarded an RHS Gold Medal in 2008. In 2013 I exhibited paintings exploring the theme of “Black and White, in Colour” at the Shirley Sherwood Gallery, Kew. My work is held in collections in the UK, US and abroad.
