Formally trained in color and abstraction, Emmons feels plants provide the perfect subject for studying light on form. Their reflective and iridescent qualities always present a challenge. She enjoys underpainting in unusual colors and then knitting it all back together. Among many awards, Emmons has won two Gold Medals and “Best Painting of Show” from the Royal Horticultural Society and the ASBA Founder’s Award for Excellence. Recently, she won “Best in Show” at the ASBA’s 21st International.
