Born in Durham, England 1955 her interest in nature was encouraged from an early age. Later a degree in fashion and textiles led to working in London as a designer and illustrator for several years. With a young family, spare time was devoted to drawing natural subjects from life, whilst developing techniques with coloured pencils, her preferred medium since childhood. The response to her first solo exhibition encouraged her to focus on botanical work, which has gained a variety of awards including two RHS gold medals. Teaching has become an enjoyable aspect of her practice.
