At the of 12, Susan received her first art lesson. Art in all forms have played a major part in her life. From her mother and Grandmother she inherited an interest in gardening. This interest came together with her art during trips to England where she studied botanical art. She also exhibited her paintings on many occasions while in England.
Susan's paintings were used on New Zealand postage stamps. Over the year her paintings have been exhibited in many solo and joint exhibitions both in New Zealand and around the world. Her paintings are in many important collections.
Susan was awarded the Insignia of a Member New Zealand Order of Merit in the 2013 New Year Honors for services in New Zealand as a botanical artist.
