Angela Mirro
USA
Born 1953
After graduating from Parsons School of Design, Angela developed a career as a textile designer, while focusing on botanical watercolor paintings of orchids for over thirty years. During the past twenty years, she has also worked as a designer for Ralph Lauren’s Home Collection. Painting orchids has consistantly been her passion and pursuit, which has led to many wonderful travels and experiences.
She prefers painting orchid species ‘in situ’, and, when possible, tries to convey something of their natural habitats, as much of it is disappearing. She was the first artist to paint the newly discovered Phragmipedium kovachii in the Peruvian Andes near its source in 2003.
