Annie Farrer
Australia
Born 1950
Annie has had a mission, since the age of 15, to reveal detail in the overlooked in nature. After a BA at Manchester University, specialising in Albrecht Durer, she worked and taught as a botanical artist for RBG Kew and others for many years. She was awarded 6 Gold medals by the RHS and was the first holder of the Jill Smithies award in 1988. Working also as a trek leader in the Himalaya and living in France, enabled her to step outside the confines of botanical illustration and led to her exploring Chinese painting design. This led in turn to a Foundation Course followed by an MA (Fine Art) in which she had the opportunity to explore many artists and techniques. She continues her love of drawing and painting combined with some teaching.
