Brigid Edwards was born in London in 1940 and studied Illustration and Graphic Design at the Central School of Art in London. She initially worked in television as both a TV Producer and Director. She was inspired to become a botanical artist by the botanical artwork of Franz and Ferdinand Bauer and Georg Ehret - as many have been before and since. She has been painting botanical subjects working in pencil and watercolour on vellum for some 30 years. Her work is in the collection of the Hunt Institute, the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew and many private collections. In 2004, her work was also selected for one of the top watercolour competitions in the UK - the Singer and Friendlander (now known as the Sunday Times Watercolour Competition).
