Fatima Zagonel was born in Brazil in 1954. She worked as a Graphic Designer for 20 years before pursuing botanical illustration. Fatima was awarded the Margaret Mee Fellowship in 1999, and was instructed by Christabel King in Kew Gardens. Her work appears in the Hunt Institute, the Shirley Sherwood collection; the collection at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew; the New York State Museum and other private art collections around the World. She is a founder member of the Center of Botanical Illustration of Paraná – CIBP – 2000.
