Sergio gained an MFA from Goldsmiths University of London, UK, in 2006. In 1998 he won the Margaret Mee Botanical Scholarship at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. In 2007, was selected by the Museum of Modern Art, Bahia, for their Acquisition Prize.
