Masako Sasaki
Japan
Born 1939
Masako lived in England and studied botanical painting (1988~2003). Back in Japan, she started a botanical painting class. Nine of her students received Medals at RHS, in Japan as well as in other countries. In the meanwhile, she was charmed by wild violas; there are about 60 species in the wild and more natural hybrids. She visited many places to sketch, from Okinawa Islands to Hokkaido with the help of friends and specialists. She exhibited Viola shikokiana at “Flora Japonica”, Viola eizanensis and Viola chaerophylloides at “Botanical Art Worldwide Exhibition”. She has now finished 45 viola paintings and intends to make viola painting her life's work.
