Gillian Barlow’s detailed watercolour paintings include portraits of people in their settings; several one-off albums of paintings of varied subjects; published book illustrations; more than 30 years at London’s College of Arms as a Herald painter, in addition to her principal work as a botanical artist. She has tutored many courses, illustrated plants for Kew’s Curtis Botanical Magazine and participated in the Transylvania Florilegium. She manages the archive of botanical paintings at Chelsea Physic Garden, and serves on the RHS Picture Advisory panel. She was awarded the RHS Veitch Memorial Medal, 2015 and the Finnis-Scott award.
